About the sale
Thanks to a generous gift from Ruth “Bazy” Tankersley, the Al-Marah Equine Center has become an important facility for equine instruction, research and community engagement at the University of Arizona. The 80-acre working ranch nestled within the foothills of Tucson’s Catalina Mountains was originally developed by Tankersley to breed, train, and market Al-Marah Arabian horses, which are regarded the world over to be among the premier Arabian lineages.
The Al-Marah Equine Center and its Arabian herd have provided a foundation for our equine programs and educational opportunities for students within our School of Animal & Comparative Biomedical Sciences. As we continue to develop our equine program and in response to interest in expanding our educational and research opportunities beyond the Arabian breed, we’re excited to host an Al-Marah Production Horse Sale.
Proceeds from the sale will directly support the School of Animal & Comparative Biomedical Sciences and the diversity of equine programs provided through the Al-Marah Equine Center.
